Mapping cognition across lab and daily life using experience-sampling

(Chitiz et al., 2024)

Psychological research aims to understand behavior in daily life, but it's unclear how lab findings apply to real-world situations. This study used multi-dimensional experience sampling (mDES) to compare thought patterns from lab settings and daily life, creating a common thought-space to represent both contexts. The results show that mDES can map cognition across lab and daily life, providing more ecologically valid descriptions of behavior and cognition.
